Wal-Mart Sustainability the Green Room:

Sustainability means that we as a human have to wisely know how to use nature resource and prevent these resources that Threatened with extinction. In Wal-Mart they now more concern about environmental and social issues, because they want people to live better and there are someone who care about them. 

Sustainability means that the idea of maintain and ensure that it will work for the longer time than usual.

So, it will save the environment and protect animals threatened with extinction. At Wal-Mart, the mission of this new project is to Together, we will create a more sustainable world to help people live better. This new project was established after Hurricane Katrina that creates to them the vision to start this new issue in Wal-Mart. 

The CEO’s of Wal-Mart “Lee Scott” decide that this project must achieve a certain goals such as:

1.      To Supply renew energy.

2.      Minimize the waste.

3.      Sell products that prevent the environment. 

There are some issues that Wal-Mart care about recently, these subjects will be explained as the following:

v  Burning energy for the better :

Wal-Mart have a wonderful strategy to care about the environment which is that in May Month is known as “National Bike Month”, But in May 18^th which is the day that every worker in this organization have to come to work by riding bikes only. so, by implementing this idea that will help to reduce amount of pollution in the air and will encourages other people to do the same and be as a leadership for other people.

v  Rethink, rearrange and reduce :

In this stage Wal-Mart think again and reallocate the resource and suppliers about ways to reduce effect on environment. “By stocking park packages to new cube box, Wal-Mart’s and their suppliers remove more than 4500 trucks form their fleet”.  .They does so that as a mark of them to trying protects the environment and reduce amount of dioxides in the atmosphere.  

v  Expanding solar power in Wal-Mart : 
       

      In Wal-Mart they try to use solar panels on top of each store in Massachusetts. Using a solar energy to generate electricity on each brand. This strategy will reduce to amount of non-renewable resource that use in generate electricity. By implementing this strategy in Massachusetts “will provide from 10 to 15 percent of each store’s power requirements,’’ said David Ozment, Wal-Mart’s director of energy programs. “We’re very optimistic that we’re going to save some dollars over time.’’

     So at Wal-Mart using a solar energy will reduce their cost spending on electricity every year and will have a positive effect on the environment itself by reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.

Therefore, Wal-Mart stores seek for the benefits of the whole society, people and environment. By encourage workers come to work by riding bikes , rethink who to produce products in way that don’t create any danger at the environment and using solar energy to generate electricity will summarize how this organization is environmental focus.
